Damage assessments set to begin once access opens in Bishop Estates after Stinky Fire

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — On Wednesday, volunteers with organizations looking to help people who were impacted by the Stinky Fire 2,335 acres, had to wait till areas of Bishop Estates were open.

“I hope the people remember the folks out here in this terrible fire and get them the care they need,” said Kathy Durrett, Bishop Estates resident.

The next step in the process of losing your house in a fire or suffering extensive damage is recovery. Members of the Southern Baptist Texas Convention (SBTC) and the American Red Cross are going to be conducting assessments once they’re able to gain access to areas that were heavily impacted by the Stinky Fire…
