AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, history’s largest peace torch relay, are making a stop in Amarillo during their four-month long “Passing the Peace Torch” tour through all 50 states in honor of the 250th anniversary of America.
The runners will participate in a seven-mile run on Friday starting at 2 p.m. from the Cactus Cove Inn and Suites to the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, according to organizers. The team will stay overnight in Amarillo before continuing on to New Mexico. An estimated 50,000 children in over 1,000 cities and towns along the route are expected to participate when the team visits schools, youth organizations and local events.
Organizers said the runners will offer educational presentations that promote self-esteem and the oneness of humanity.
