Temperatures are rising in Southern California this week as the Southland faces what could be the hottest day of the summer. To help beat the heat, counties across the region have opened cooling centers.
With the heat comes fire weather warnings, risk of illnesses and a high UV index, so the cooling centers offer the public free relief from the sun.
