Southern California has seen its share of wild weather lately, but few moments have been captured quite like this one. The Irvine Police Department recently shared video footage on Facebook that left viewers’ jaws on the floor, and honestly, it is the kind of clip you have to watch twice just to process what you are seeing. In the middle of a storm, with wind whipping palm trees sideways and rain hammering the pavement, a white minivan simply drives off the road and straight into someone’s house. No brakes. No hesitation. Just chaos.
The video, posted directly from the department’s official Facebook page, quickly gained attention for how clearly it captured the moment of impact. Even with palm trees partially blocking the view, you can see car parts and pieces of the home launching through the air on contact. It is the kind of footage that makes you instinctively wince, and then immediately feel relieved when you find out that the residents inside were not injured.
Fortunately, nobody in the home was hurt. The driver, however, did not walk away from the scene without consequences. Officers responding to the crash arrested the person behind the wheel on suspicion of driving under the influence. A storm bad enough to test any sober driver, and this person reportedly got behind the wheel anyway…
