Flammable epoxy leak in Orange County prompts evacuations

Orange County firefighters evacuated Garden Grove neighborhoods after an industrial tank containing a flammable, self-heating substance started leaking at a nearby aerospace facility.

The Orange County Fire Authority said crews have evacuated the area east of Western Avenue, south of Orangewood Avenue, west of Beach Boulevard and north of Garden Grove Boulevard out of an abundance of caution.

Although firefighters lifted evacuation orders at around 8:40 p.m., they kept the following street closures in place:

  • Western Ave. from Garden Grove Blvd. to Chapman Ave.
  • Lampson Ave. from Santa Rosalia Ave. to Western Ave.

Firefighters said the Rancho Alamitos High School gym at 11351 Dale St., Garden Grove, will act as a reunification site for evacuees…
