PALMER, Alaska (KTUU) – A 20-year-old man is accused of taking part in a crime spree in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough that investigators say included stealing a Ford pickup, trying to break into a Wasilla ammunition business, shooting and burning the stolen truck, and later robbing a teenager of a handgun during an assault, according to charging documents filed in Palmer.
Matthew Hunter Chapman, whose nickname is listed as “Drew,” was arrested and charged with a long list of felonies and misdemeanors, including first-degree robbery, multiple first-degree theft and vehicle theft counts, first-degree burglary, arson, attempted burglary, and weapons misconduct counts, Alaska State Troopers said in an affidavit in support of a complaint.
The case began April 14, when Wasilla police received a report that a blue 2023 Ford F-150 had been stolen from a home on East Neil Circle, according to the affidavit signed by Sgt. Matthew Sidders.
