Anchorage Police conduct over 600 traffic stops as part of month-long safety enforcement campaign

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Anchorage Police Department made over 600 traffic stops from April 20 to May 17, according to the results of a pedestrian safety enforcement campaign.

The operation focused on preventing dangerous driving and pedestrian behaviors in Anchorage, according to the APD. During the operation, officers conducted 661 traffic stops and issued 677 citations.

The citations included 272 speeding, 54 illegal window tint, 51 no proof of insurance, 34 red light and six racing-related violations. The enforcement efforts resulted in eight DUI/OUI arrests, six arrests for pedestrian interference, one reckless driving arrest and eight arrests for other offenses…
