ANN ARBOR – Thousands of college students and their families descend on Ann Arbor this week for the biggest student move-in in University of Michigan history.
UM welcomed more than 12,700 undergraduate students for the fall semester. Hanna Quinlan, communications specialist for Michigan Housing, said the number represents the largest move-in class ever thanks to the new Wolverine Village complex, which opened Monday, adding 2,300 beds. The development is the first new undergraduate-focused housing built on campus in decades.
“Wolverine Village added 25% capacity to our portfolio,” she said. “The university doesn’t have a live-on requirement, so these are students who are actively choosing to live here… that says a lot about our support, affordability and access to campus.”…
