YPSILANTI TWP., MI – As their opposition to a $1.2 billion Los Alamos supercomputing facility intensifies, Ypsilanti Township officials are speculating, with scant direct evidence, that the University of Michigan’s preferred site may house historic Native American burial grounds.
“There has been confirmation of that on the property west of their site, and given the maps that we’ve seen going back to 1931 there’s reason to believe it continues along the Huron River,” said township Attorney Doug Winters. “I don’t think they just stopped on the property west of that location.”
“We’ll continue to do our due diligence. We have reason to believe that there’s going to be other evidence on that property as well,” he continued…
