Michigan family says lawsuit is still coming months after student’s tragic death

The family of a University of Michigan student who died after leaving a fraternity party earlier this year still plans to file a lawsuit against those they believe are responsible, according to the family’s attorney. Lucas Mattson, 19, died in January after attending a party near campus during a period of extreme cold weather. His family now intends to pursue legal action against multiple parties connected to the events leading up to his death, Blue Water Health Living added.

Attorney Robert “Bobby” Raitt told MLive/The Ann Arbor News that the lawsuit is expected to be filed before the end of the year. He said potential defendants could include individuals, the former University of Michigan chapter of Delta Chi, alumni connected to the organization and possibly the university itself.

He was reported missing the following day after friends and family realized he never returned home. His body was later discovered near a residential property a short distance from the fraternity house, michigandaily.com said…
