Woman dropped off a tote at a Michigan Goodwill. Then the FBI immediately gets involved after the staff look inside it

The federal authorities are now officially involved in a strange case involving a human skull discovered at a MichiganGoodwill. According to CBS, the mystery began in January this year when a woman arrived at a Goodwill donation center in the 1100 block of South Main Street in Chelsea. She dropped off a tote bag filled with various items, but staff members soon discovered something truly unsettling inside.

After looking through the donation, workers found an item that appeared to be a human skull wrapped in a shirt. Local law enforcement responded to the scene after receiving a report of a suspicious item at the drop-off location. The discovery triggered an immediate investigation by the Chelsea Police Department, per The Detroit News. Investigators initially faced conflicting reports regarding the nature of the object.

While some early statements suggested the item might be a man-made artifact rather than human remains, further analysis has clarified the situation significantly. The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner and the University of Michigan Anthropology Department conducted a detailed examination of the object. Police have now confirmed that the skull is indeed human. Authorities stated the skull was not a medical or teaching specimen.

This detail narrows down the potential origins of the remains

According to the official findings, the skull is well-preserved, skeletonized, dry, and there are traces of adherent soil on it. These physical characteristics suggest the skull had been buried or kept in a specific environment for some time. Forensic experts believe the remains came from a Black woman who was between 20 and 49 years old at the time of her death.

Chelsea Chief of Police Kazyak noted that it remains unknown exactly when this woman died. There are no signs of trauma to the skull, which adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation…
