Allen Park police searching for suspect who shot man at Thunderbowl Lanes, fled the scene

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) — The search is on for a suspect who shot a man at a Downriver bowling alley late Saturday night.

Allen Park police officials tell WWJ they were called to Thunderbowl Lanes — near Allen Drive and Outer Drive — just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday on reports of a man who had been shot.

Officers responded to the bowling alley within one minute, according to Chief Chris Egan, but the shooter had already left the scene.

Multiple police departments, including Allen Park, Lincoln Park, and Melvindale responded to the scene.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the hospital. His condition was not immediately clear on Sunday.

Authorities are “very confident” they will be able to identify the shooter, but a description of the suspect has not yet been released, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigators interviewed multiple witnesses on Sunday morning.

Officials have not released a possible motive in the case, and it was not clear what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting.
