The FIFA World Cup began on June 11, and since then, 39 drones have been found flying illegally. The goal is not to confiscate more drones; instead, law enforcement is encouraging drone owners to verify local airspace rules before launching their aircraft.

Federal authorities warn that operating a drone in restricted areas carries severe penalties. It’s a federal crime to fly a drone in a restricted area. The punishment can be up to $100,000, prison time, and drone confiscation.
