Famed Texas barbecue joints that closed in 2026 so far

It’s news that we never enjoy sharing and a hard pill to swallow in recent years. Texas barbecue joints are struggling, and many have been forced to close their doors for good. While the year began with Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue getting saved from closure, others have not been so lucky.

After more than a dozen shuttered for good in 2025, a few notable names have already been added to the growing list in 2026. From a popular chain to a longtime smokehouse, here are all the Texas barbecue joints that have closed so far in 2026.

Heim Barbecue in Fort Worth decided to close its original location at 1109 W. Magnolia Avenue on February 1 after 10 years in North Texas.
