Texas school district sues gun range after bullets allegedly strike campus

A Texas school district is suing a nearby gun range, alleging stray bullets struck buildings on one of its campuses.

The Northwest Independent School District (NISD), located near the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, filed a lawsuit against the Quail Creek Gun Range on Thursday, August 6. In the court filing, NISD alleges that two bullets struck structures at Barksdale Middle School, a newly built school that welcomed its first group of students on Wednesday, August 12.

The middle school is about one mile from the range. On the day the lawsuit was filed, in-person athletic meetings for families were canceled, according to the Barksdale PTA Facebook page, though the reason was not specified…
