Deputies: Marion woman charged after children test positive for narcotics

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A Marion woman is behind bars after a child tested positive for narcotics.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said 35-year-old Kayla Ann Russell has been charged with felony exposing a child to a controlled substance. She was issued a $30,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy recieved a referral from the McDowell County Department of Social Services about children in Russell’s care being neglected.

An investigation confirmed the allegations against her, including the use of illegal drugs around the children. This led to some of the children testing positive for narcotics…
