Volunteers Sought for South Mills Gap Road Litter Sweep

Conserving Carolina is seeking volunteers for an Adopt-a-Highway litter sweep along South Mills Gap Road on Friday, Aug. 21. The cleanup is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m., and advance registration is required.

Participants will meet at Fruitland Baptist Church, 150 College St. in Hendersonville, before working along the nonprofit’s adopted section of South Mills Gap Road. The meeting place gives the group a common starting point before volunteers move to the roadside cleanup area.

Conserving Carolina will provide cleanup tools, safety vests and gloves. Volunteers should be prepared to walk moderate distances over rough terrain, making the project more physically demanding than a stationary cleanup.
