Man accused of hit & run after Asheville Water Department employee struck

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A man was arrested after a City of Asheville Water Department employee was hit by a vehicle while working on Monday, according to the Asheville Police Department.

Jeffrey Flynn Allen, 39 is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated Felony serious injury by vehicle
  • Felony hit and run with injury
  • Misdemeanor hit and run leave scene property damage
  • Misdemeanor child abuse
  • Reckless driving to endanger
  • Driving while intoxicated

Police report responding to the 200 block of Charlotte Street around 5:54 p.m. after the vehicle involved left the scene. The Water Department employee was taken to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Traffic Safety Unit identified the vehicle as belonging to a local business which police worked with to identify Allen as the driver. The vehicle was found to have sustained damage. A four-year-old was also in the vehicle when the incident happened, officers said.

Allen was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center and issued no bond…
