Asheville and Buncombe County’s 2026 homelessness funding process has moved from local project submissions toward federal filing, with the Asheville-Buncombe Continuum of Care working through recommendations before an August 26 HUD deadline. The sequence determines which locally reviewed applications advance as part of the community’s federal Continuum of Care submission.
The local process began with letters of intent due June 26. Organizations that met that step were eligible to submit project applications, and an extended local deadline closed July 27 at 5 p.m. after HUD released additional instructions and an Estimated Annual Renewal Demand report for the competition.
The local schedule placed the Funding Committee’s evaluation and recommendations before the Continuum of Care Board at a called meeting on August 10.
