Deputies: Man convicted on drug trafficking charges after 2025 traffic stop in NC

YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A man has been sentenced on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop back in March 2025.

The Yancey County Sheriff’s office said 62-year-old Jerome Frederick Honeycutt pleaded guilty to the charges of:

  • Two counts of Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine
  • Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling Place for Controlled Substance
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The sheriff’s office said Honeycut was sentenced to 93 months, or 7 years and 9 months, in prison. He must also pay a mandatory $50,000 fine.

Honeycutt’s conviction comes after deputies conducted a traffic stop and subsequent search of his vehicle in March 2025…
