The Old Vaucluse Road bridge over Interstate 20 in Aiken County reopened Thursday, according to WRDW. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 2 p.m., hosted by the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
SCDOT Secretary of Transportation Justin Powell attended. State lawmakers came. Local officials showed up, too. Signs pointed guests toward parking areas.
The old bridge collapsed in June 2025. A tanker truck hit a car on I-20 below, triggering the disaster that sent the structure crashing down onto the interstate. The crash sparked a fire. Flames consumed the old structure, melting steel and concrete until the bridge collapsed.
