Denver’s boomtown dream hits a pause

Not long ago, Denver seemed unstoppable. People from across the country moved to Colorado’s capital for its mountain views, strong job market, and active lifestyle. During and after the pandemic, demand for homes surged, construction cranes filled the skyline, and new neighborhoods expanded quickly.

Today, the mood feels very different. Empty office buildings, slower home sales, and growing concerns about downtown have replaced much of the excitement.
