Colorado 16-year-old’s wish comes true: A face-to-face meeting with WWII heroes

ARVADA, Colo. (KDVR) — World War II veteran Al Jennings of Arvada turned 100 years old Friday. But it was a young guest at the birthday celebration who left with the biggest gift.

Max Brennan, 16, had always wanted to meet and talk to a World War II hero. And at Jennings’ party, he got his wish.

“He is just in love with World War II, the battles, the history, the airplanes, the tanks,” his mom, Shauna Brennan, told FOX31.

She reached out to FOX31 a few weeks ago, asking us to help arrange a meeting with a World War II veteran. When FOX31 learned that a group of Marine veterans called Cooper’s Troopers was going to honor Jennings at their monthly meeting in Arvada Thursday, it seemed like the perfect opportunity…
