ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A man who faced multiple charges after police found young children and dozens of animals living in “squalor” in Commerce City last year has been sentenced.
Demetrio Urbina, 39, pleaded guilty in March to three misdemeanors, including cruelty to animals, unauthorized practice of veterinary medicine, and possession of an unserialized gun, according to court records. Other charges against him were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Urbina was sentenced Tuesday to 120 days in jail.
Urbina was arrested in August, after Commerce City police responded to a home on East 113th Avenue to serve a search warrant. Officers found three young children and 35 animals inside the home, living in “deplorable conditions,” police said…
