Austin Yogurt Shop Murders: New doc revisits solving the 34-year-old mystery

One of Central Texas’ most notorious true-crime cases is getting a new look in an upcoming documentary special. HBO Max will release a follow-up episode of its Austin Yogurt Shop Murders docuseries, revisiting the 1991 quadruple homicide and the recent developments investigators say could help solve the case after more than three decades.

The series, which debuted in August 2025, explored the 1991 murders of 13-year-old Amy Ayers, 17-year-old Eliza Thomas, 17-year-old Jennifer Harbison and 15-year-old Sarah Harbison at an I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt shop in Austin. For decades, the case shook the city of Austin and remained a mystery, but police made a significant breakthrough in 2025, which is now the subject of the series’ latest episode.

In late September 2025, the Austin Police Department said DNA evidence collected at the crime scene linked Robert Eugene Brashers, a now-deceased serial killer, to the murders.
