Body Found on Lakewood Street Triggers Late-Night APD Homicide Briefing

Austin police are working a homicide case after a body was discovered Friday night in northwest Austin, turning a quiet Lakewood block into an active crime scene. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Wallace Drive and Gardenridge Hollow, just off the North Capital of Texas Highway, where homicide detectives responded and the department planned a media briefing for later Friday as the investigation remained active. Police have not released the victim’s name or any other identifying information.

According to KVUE, Austin Police Department investigators are treating the case as a homicide and spent Friday night canvassing the immediate area for evidence. Reporter Johann Castro noted that APD has not provided details about the victim or identified any person of interest, and that a media briefing was scheduled as detectives continued gathering information.

The Austin Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact its Homicide Tip Line at 512-974-TIPS or to submit an anonymous tip through Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. Investigators are also urging residents to preserve and share any video or photos that might help the case, which can be submitted through the department’s police news portal. APD has not indicated there is an ongoing threat to the broader public at this time.
