A Michelin-recognized small yellow food truck known for serving some of Texas’ best tacos has just landed its first brick-and-mortar. Cuantos Tacos in East Austin recently announced that its owner has officially signed the lease to a new restaurant.
“Can’t believe we are finally saying this but after years of a space the time has finally come, We just signed the lease on our first brick & mortar!!” Beto wrote in a long, heartfelt Instagram post. “There is always plenty of room for more Taqueros & Taqueras with new concepts in the city to be open!!! We are just happy and proud to be a part of the growth.”
Founded by Robledo in 2019, Cuantos Tacos is known for its Mexico City-style street bite-sized tacos filled with proteins like a confit brisket (Suadero), barbacoa (Cachete), pork (Carnitas) and Mexican chorizo (Longaniza). Over the years, the small food truck has earned huge acclaim from the Austin community and beyond, with Yelp crowning it the best taco spot in Texas in 2024 and the truck winning the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award that same year for serving high-quality food at excellent, moderate prices.
“In creating Cuantos we’ve never tried to be the best, be a trend, or change what our brand is to fit in,” Robledo said on Instagram. “The sole reason was to bring that feel of home in flavor, atmosphere and accessibility to all walks in life and receive the feedback of a special memory or a place that we were able to take y’all back to.”…
