BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The community of Hart Flat, near Keene, is small and tranquil. That peace, though, has been disturbed by the prospect of a new neighbor: A convicted sex offender.
“Our pool faces his windows, so he wouldn’t even have to leave his house to be able to see directly my children playing, you know, their friends swimming in the pool, them in the pool as outside,” Hart Flat resident Leslie Martin said. “It’s just way too close for comfort. And I don’t think anyone would want that in their backyard, to be honest.”
