City shelter to offer free dog tags, microchips through June

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Animal Care Center will be offering free dog tags and microchips throughout the month of June for Bakersfield city residents.

The center said that pet owners do not have to be adopting a dog to be eligible for a free tag or microchip. They said dogs do not have to be previously adopted from the shelter to be eligible, either.

Residents who want a dog tag or to microchip their pet can go to the shelter during business hours with contact information and their dog’s name to be etched into the dog tag…
