BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Delano city leaders approved the removal of the late leader Cesar Chavez’s name from a park and a street this week, according to a city agenda.
Documents show the Delano City Council approved the changes during the Monday, June 15th meeting at Delano City Hall.
A resolution adopted during the meeting called for renaming Cesar Chavez Park to Ellington Park and changing Cesar Chavez Lane to Chavez Lane.
Chavez’s mural in downtown Bakersfield was removed in early April after it was defaced with graffiti that read “Believe survivors,” sparking debate about the late labor leader and the allegations raised against him…
