7 arrested, 8 tons of trash removed in SW Bakersfield encampment sweep

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police arrested seven people and removed eight tons of trash in an encampment sweep in southwest Bakersfield on Wednesday.

On June 17th, 2026, the BPD’s Impact Unit, Bakersfield City Code Enforcement, and the Rapid Response Team responded to an encampment along railroad tracks in the area of Planz and Akers Roads.
