Kern County Animal Services expanding program aiming to help residents pay for vet emergencies

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County Animal Services is expanding its emergency veterinary assistance program to help pet owners facing the high cost of emergency care and financial hardship.

To do so, the county animal service is expanding the LOVE Project, which stands for “Lifesaving Outreach for Veterinary Emergencies.”

“For many families, a sudden veterinary emergency can present an impossible choice,” KCAS said in a statement. “The LOVE Project seeks to bridge that gap by providing limited financial assistance for qualifying life-threatening medical conditions, helping ensure that pets have access to necessary treatment while remaining with the families who love them.”…
