Motorcyclist who died after crashing into construction barriers along Hwy 178 identified

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a 58-year-old man who died of his injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in the area of Highway 178 and Q Street on Friday.

Coroner officials said Daryl Hicks of Bakersfield was driving a motorcycle on westbound Highway 178 when he collided with construction barriers on Aug. 7 at around 8:35 p.m.

He was taken to Kern Medical where he died the next day.

Officials with the highway patrol said Hicks was driving a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle at an unknown rate of spread and for reasons unknown an he made and unsafe turning movement…
