Bakersfield police to conduct DUI checkpoint operation Friday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI and Driver License Checkpoint on Friday.

Officers conducting the checkpoint operation will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment of drivers, BPD said.

The department said that conducting DUI checkpoint operations is a proven way to reduce the number of people killed or injured from drug and alcohol related crashes.

“Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by 20% when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely,” law enforcement said…
