KCSO: No dogs shot after deputy fires weapon during found child call, mother arrested

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a deputy discharged his firearm while they were on a call for a found child Tuesday morning.

KCSO said on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at around 9:50 a.m., deputies were called to a report of a found child near Teakwood and Olive drives in Oildale.
