Bakersfield City School District adopts new adult-student interactions policy

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield City School District Board of Education approved a new policy Tuesday designed to better protect students interacting with adults working for the school district.

The policy, titled “Maintaining Appropriate Adult-Student Interactions,” applies to interns, volunteers, contractors and other adults employed under BCSD.

Board Trustee Brooke Malley Ault said at the meeting while BCSD already had policies for appropriate interactions, the policy clearly defines which roles school employees include and establishes “more explicit” limits on electronic contact made outside of school.
