Brite Fire burns 665 acres near Elk Hills-Buttonwillow Airport

BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A wildfire burning near the Elk Hills-Buttonwillow Airport had scorched hundreds of acres Saturday evening, prompting an evacuation warning for parts of western Kern County.

The Brite Fire started around 4 p.m. According to Cal Fire, flames burned 665 acres and the fire was 20% contained.

Protect Genasys issued an evacuation warning for the area southeast of Mickittrick Highway, north of Skyline Road and southwest of the California Aqueduct. Residents in the warning area were urged to be prepared to leave…
