Road closures in effect in Baltimore after sinkhole damages water utility at intersection

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A massive sinkhole that swallowed a car has shut down roads in East Baltimore, with repairs expected to take several days.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation said that closures are in effect near N. Chester Street and Ashland Avenue because of a sinkhole involving major utility damage, including a water main and storm drain.

The city said Department of Public Works crews have taken steps to stop the flow of water and are assessing conditions at the site as they prepare for water utility repairs…
