Meet the La. company making solar-powered trailers for “Hacks,” Amy Poehler and other stars

In an April Instagram post, Emmy-nominated actress Megan Stalter showed off her new high-tech and stylish trailer on the set of the hit HBO Max TV show “Hacks,” filmed on a studio lot in Los Angeles.

The vehicle comes with Starlink Wi-Fi, an Apple TV, an open floor plan and lots of natural light, but most important, the 100% solar-powered mobile dressing room runs quietly and has enough excess power to charge up electric vehicles and other devices — and even send electricity back to a power grid.

The luxury accommodations were provided by a company called Hollywood Trucks, which, despite what its name suggests, is headquartered in a small office in the Place St. Charles office building in New Orleans’ Central Business District.

For the venture’s founder Andre Champagne, a native of Napoleonville, delivering Stalter’s trailer and about 20 others just like it over the last few months has been a breakthrough that’s been in the works for nearly two decades. During that time, he has built, sold and then relaunched his truck rental business while designing and patenting cleaner, greener technology that he hopes will find many other uses beyond the film industry…
