BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Residents in Pointe Coupee Parish and six other Louisiana parishes affected by Tropical Storm Arthur now have extra time to pay their insurance premiums.
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple issued Emergency Rule 50 in June, which temporarily delays certain insurance deadlines for people affected by the storm.
It also pauses:
- Certain policy cancellations.
- Non-renewals.
- Other insurance deadlines while residents recover.
“I issued Emergency Rule 50 to protect Louisianans whose lives have been disrupted by Tropical Storm Arthur,” Temple said. “As floodwaters recede and affected policyholders shift their focus from the disaster to the recovery phase, now is the time to issue this rule and give them more time to pay premiums without risk of insurance cancellation or non-renewal.”…
