On Aug. 4, a line of families snaked out the door of the Elite Training Academy Sports Performance Complex in Baton Rouge all the way down to the parking lot for the second annual Burreaux Back to School Kickoff.
Families with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, elementary school kids and middle schoolers waited patiently to wind through the indoor football field and collect free school supplies and giveaways.
Donnie Laing, facility and security manager at Elite, estimated about 2,000 people attended the back-to-school event. The Joe Burrow Foundation passed out 1,100 clear backpacks, and community partners handed out supplies. Remaining supplies will be distributed to area schools…
