DENHAM SPRINGS – The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office posted a tribute to crossing guard Katy Wells, who was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver while working outside a Denham Springs elementary school in April.
“Her legacy lives on every time a driver slows down, chooses not to drive impaired & eliminates distractions. As this new school year begins, be vigilant. Every child deserves to arrive safely. Miss Katy, we miss you. We’ll do our best to make you proud,” Sheriff Jason Ard said Thursday morning, as children returned to school for their first day.
