Races will be crowded this November for Louisiana’s two wide-open congressional seats: As qualifying neared an end Friday, eight candidates had qualified to run in the Fifth District and nine had signed up to run in the Sixth District.
And state Sen. Blake Miguez, R-New Iberia, finally answered the longstanding question of whether he would run by signing up to be a candidate in the Sixth District. His decision sets up a showdown with state Sen. Rick Edmonds, R-Baton Rouge, who has already taken shots at Miguez on the campaign trail.
