LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After a toasty Saturday with scattered storms, all rain fades for the night as temperatures drop into the 70s.
Sunday will see temperatures warm quickly to near 90 degrees by lunchtime. Storms develop around midday and become more widespread during the afternoon hours, helping to bring heat relief to the area.
In the tropics, we are now monitoring two disturbances off the African coast. Both have a long journey ahead of them and will not affect land through the end of the week.
It is also possible neither develop as they fight off dry air and wind shear as they move east. There are no tropical threats to Acadiana over the next week.
Storm chances increase Monday as a tropical wave moves onshore bringing tropical downpours. At times, this rain could be very heavy and cause minor flooding in parts of the area. Rain chances remain high Tuesday before they back off for the rest of the week…
