“I just focused on that baby”: BRPD officer saves newborn

BATON ROUGE — A case of being in the right place at the right time helped save a newborn’s life. On April 19, Baton Rouge Police Officer Jermaine Javius’ quick thinking, and decision to make a stop on his way home from work, likely made all the difference.

Officer Javius decided to stop at the AT&T store in Town Center to visit his mom at work.

“My mom works at AT&T, so I always go there,” Officer Javius told UWK. “I’ve built a good relationship with those people, so I just stop in. I was like, ‘I’m just going to stop and see mom,’ so I did.”
