BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore testified before the House Appropriations Committee Tuesday, asking the state for more money.
The state currently pays for Moore’s office to have 55 assistant district attorneys at a $50,000 base salary. The city-parish is supposed to help supplement all other costs.
“We cannot hire a lawyer in Baton Rouge for $50,000, so now we have to find an additional $10,000 just as a minimum salary,” Moore said. “In addition to that 60 that we pay an assistant DA, we also owe another $30,000 in benefits just for that one person.”…
