Cook Out, a popular North Carolina based fast-food chain that is expanding across the South, has purchased a building on West Lee Drive for what would be its first Louisiana location.

Cook Out Baton Rouge LLC bought a building at 755 West Lee Drive for $2.75 million in a deal that closed Wednesday. The seller was BR West Lee Coffee LLC of Metairie.

Starbucks planned to open a coffee shop at the site and built a 2,500-square-foot store last year. But the chain never moved into the building. The West Lee-Burbank Drive area is home to a number of chain quick service restaurants, including Fuego Tortilla Grill, Whataburger, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Cheba Hut…
