Bellevue police are investigating a gasoline theft that went dangerously wrong, sparking a car fire at an apartment complex over the weekend.
Around 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to reports of a vehicle on fire in the 5400 block of Village Park Drive Southeast, according to Bellevue Police Department (BPD) spokesman Drew Anderson. When officers arrived, Bellevue Fire crews were already on scene working to extinguish the fire.
“The preliminary investigation determined that the suspect, or suspects, were attempting to steal gasoline from the vehicle, which caused the fire to ignite,” Anderson said…
