Judge dismisses double-murder case against accused Seattle ax killer after three-minute hearing

A King County judge dismissed two first-degree murder charges against accused Seattle ax killer Liam Kryger after a hearing that lasted less than three minutes, ending the prosecution of a man accused of stalking and killing two homeless men as they slept.

King County Superior Court Judge Nelson Lee found Kryger incompetent to stand trial based on medical reports and ordered him to undergo a civil commitment evaluation. Kryger appeared at the Aug. 13 hearing by Zoom with his attorney, while prosecutor Alexandra Logan represented the state.
