Harry Calbom isn’t wasting any more time.
The Seattle native has built a successful career in advertising through his creative production studio Society, which he founded in 2010, but Calbom has always viewed directing feature films as the end goal. After years working “adjacent to [his] dream,” Calbom was struck by something akin to divine realization with the sudden and untimely death of his “friend and hero” – and beloved Seattle filmmaker – Lynn Shelton.
“She got started as a filmmaker really late in life,” 44-year-old Calbom told me on the set of his feature directorial debut, a coming-of-age drama titled “Friend Thing.”…
